No review of Art & Culture in Atlanta would be complete without mentioning the visiting Louvre Atlanta exhibit at High Museum, the leading museum of the Southeastern United States. This historic event is an unprecedented opportunity to view artwork from Paris' famed Musée du Louvre. It's no surprise that the Louvre chose Atlanta for this amazing exhibit. This is a city that takes art and music seriously, without all of the attitude.
The first name in music in Atlanta is the Tabernacle. The historical Tabernacle was converted to a music venue for the 1996 Olympics and now hosts the most popular musical events year round. Not surprisingly, the architecture and decor are every bit as much worth seeing as the music itself. For large venue concerts, simply walk over to Philips Arena which sheds its sporting role to host international superstars and spectacular events. But if it's a Broadway tune you crave, head over to the Atlanta Civic Center on Piedmont, which features traveling Broadway shows, concerts and plays.
And because we know you're curious, the Margaret Mitchell House is located at 990 Peachtree Street. Visitors can tour the author's private apartments, get information on the story behind the scenes and, of course, tour the Gone with the Wind Movie Museum.
